Hit near the middle of a drum for a hard hit, near the edge for a soft one.
The snare has two zones: the wide ring is a rim click, the inner circle is the snare itself. The hi-hat is open on the outside, closed in the middle. The ride has a bell.
Drag a finger across the cymbals for a swell, or across the toms for a fill.
Turn on a groove, then play over the top of it. Hit Record for a one-bar count-in and a two-bar loop that plays back while you keep drumming.
Hearing nothing? Check the side switch and Control Center — Safari respects the mute switch. Then raise the volume.
